Mos of us had the privilege to walk to school or the local store wearing shoes. But for many children in other countries, wearing shoes or having a new pair for the new start of a school year is a privilege. While we are unaware of the basic necessity of owning a pair of shoes, it is a harsh reality for many children who have to walk barefoot to their school or local store. Our partnering non-profit, Dreams for Mayan Children is currently hosting a shoe fundraiser to send hundreds of shoes to the students and children of Punta Laguna, a Mayan village off the coast of Mexico near Yucatan. They are accepting all children shoe sizes and are looking for monetary as well as shoe donations. If you can kindly mail the shoes to 1205 Nacion Ave Chula Vista ca, 91911 if you are not in the area. We are grateful for any donation and pair of shoe. The children will definitely be happy and relieved to have a decent pair of shoe to walk to school and play soccer with!
Shark week is coming soon! We wanted to honor the shark and raise funds to continue our work to protect sharks worldwide! Great White Shark Artpiece: Our director of education was inspired to draw a shark next to a girl scuba diving. Marine science like any other science field has been male dominated, but great women like Sylvia Earle and others have devoted a lot of passion to the evolution of this field. Our Director of Education, Elsie Carrillo holds a scuba dive certification and is an active diver in the Aquarium of the Bay. Our drawings are mastered in a bamboo tablet. Animations coming soon!
